Hi all here we have the very reluctant sale (due to company car) of my p38 range rover 4.0 v8 fitted with LPG. Owned by a non smoker.
Fitted towbar with twin electrics. It has just had a full 12 month mot put on ready for sale.
Its only done 138k and looks great for its age. It has a slight miss fire which most people can't hear , but I can so I'm mentioning it. I bought it with a strong misfire over a year ago expecting it to be an inlet/outlet valve or head gasket etc, but on investigation it was producing 185psi across all 8 cylinder's, never used any oil or water , doesn't overheat , so new plugs, ht leads, coil pack , original mass air flow were fitted. This reduced the miss down to next to nothing and I was advised by a specialist to'drive it till it breaks then we will find it. After the work it starts first time, idles perfect with out stalling so I left it at that. That was 1000's of miles ago and it hasn't got any worse or overheated etc. For example last week it took me round south wales , a round trip of over 400 miles with out any problems. It could be something as simple as a broken wire , dodgy spark plug, coil pack but I cant spend any more time on it as my company car has arrived and I need the room.
Been suggested this may even be the problem if pressure is getting past. The LPG system works fine and automatically swops over when you drive a mile or so depending on outside temperature. Its got the best tank on it fitted in the spare wheel well so no boot space is used and you still retain the full size petrol tank if you need it.
I have a full size spare alloy wheel as well included in the sale. The only issue with this system it sometimes has a flat spot when accelerating but if you wait a few seconds its sorts it self or if you lift off the throttle then back on its right again. This only started recently after having a new battery fitted , so been advised it will need resetting on a lpg pc. It never bothers me so I was going to have it done when next serviced. I've one key for it but the central locking has 2 remote fobs, this was playing up the other day locking then unlocking, don't know if it was the frost but its done it before and it needed the door rod adjusting to sort it. Its a range rover so may have some more problems which ive forgot but if anyone tells you there's has no faults at all id be suspicious, as ive not met one yet. All the suspension is still on air and works as it should but I'm including the software and leads to reset it if it plays up. Ive found this is vital with a p38 after having a few of these. There not normally a problem its just the car thinks there is. The cars fitted with the hurricane alloys and a matching set of Michelin cross terrain tyres all round with loads of tread.Any questions or viewing just ask. The pictures problably make it look better than it is , because its 20 years old it will have some marks. The starting price it the absolutely the lowest I would take, so no need to ask. So would be ideal for someone who knows about cars or you could run it as it is like me as I only cruise around.
I'm in saddleworth OL3. Ive got some receipts for service items etc. Along with the LPG register cert. And it is stated on the v5 as well that its a LPG vehicle this may help in congestion charge areas?? Last serviced before winter oil, filters , transmission fluid , air filter , all axle oils along with new LPG filters. Any questions about the lpg or anything else just ask.
