Acquired April 2005 with 57K miles, so simple arithmetic tells us that the car has only covered another 40K during the following 14 and a half years. I always attended promptly, to every little thing that was needed to keep her in tip-top order. During the time, she has had new rear discs and callipers, all 4 airbags, new EAS pump, a new seal kit was bought as standby for the EAS valve block but is not needed yet. Examination of the photos will show her in the normal and high positions, I forget to add one with her sitting down, but the system still does what it says on the tin, but maybe a wee bit slower than it did 14 years ago.
This year I had a new heater matrix fitted, all of the brake pipes were done in copper about 5 years ago, new pads all round at the same time. I change the engine oil & filter every 12 months, and I can honestly say that it has never needed any top up oil in between changes. The spare wheel and tyre, jack & wheelner are in their lair under the boot floor, where they have slept.
Unneeded since I bought the car. The detachable towbar lives in there as well, never been used either. There are 4 heavy duty rubber mats which have kept the carpet in good nick, and no smoking has ever been allowed inside her during my watch. This car is in my opinion, fit for several more years of faithful service, and I hope her new owner will take as much pride and loving care of her as I have.
The radio intermittently plays only through one side of the car's speakers, Harmon-Kardon apparently. A radio fitting company told me that it may be due to either a loose or corroded connector block.
"Somewhere"and due to the complexity of the setup it could be very expensive to locate the fault. I learned to live with a left-handed radio quite quickly. The CD unit in the boot still was working last time I tried it, but the primitive old Sat-nav gave up the ghost a couple of years ago. On the odd occasion that I need navigation I use a cheapo sat-nav I got in Aldi or Lidl and it serves perfectly well. The 2 stage electric sunroof works fine and earned its keep this summer. Air-con still pulls the inside temp of the car down very quickly after baking in the sun. Oh, nearly forgot, there is a piece of rubber tubing under the bonnet that makes the cruise control work and this tube only seems to last a few years before it perishes away and needs to be replaced.Last attended to in 2008. All of the original booklets etc are still inside the LR wallet, and if I get the BIN price I will throw in the pukka Range Rover 1995/2001 Workshop Manual, Pub. VDR100370, which was quite expensive, and is a very rare item.
